Feeling anxious is something many young people experience. It is your brain trying to protect you. Sometimes anxiety shows up before exams or social situations. Sometimes it feels like it appears for no clear reason.

Causes
Anxiety is your brain's alarm system. It is there to protect you. Sometimes it goes off even when you are not in real danger. Anxiety can be linked to:
School pressure
Fear of being judged
Change or uncertainty
Friendship or relationship problems
High expectations of yourself
Ongoing stress or past experience
Get Support
If anxiety is constant, overwhelming, or stopping you from living your life, you deserve support. Speak to a trusted adult, teacher, school nurse or GP.
Reaching out for support can be very hard, but remember you are not alone. Use our easy guide, to get advice on how best to ask for help.

Understanding your anxiety can be tricky, so we have created a worksheet to help you identify your triggers and what supports you when you are feeling anxious. If you cannot print it at home, ask your school to print a copy for you, or complete it on a computer.
